Revive-V™️

Dr. Mary DuPont is a board certified surgeon who specializes in vaginal rejuvenation, vaginal laser, radio frequency vaginal restoration, labiaplasty, and women's sexual health in Chevy Chase, MD, Washington, DC and Bethesda, MD.

While research suggests that sexual dysfunction is common (43% of women and 31% of men report some degree of difficulty), it is a topic that many people are hesitant or embarrassed to discuss. Fortunately, most cases of sexual dysfunction are treatable.

Revive-V™️  not only helps address women's sexual health concerns but also genitourinary concerns as well! Many patients may experience an increased ability to have orgasms, greater arousal from clitoral stimulation, decreased or completely resolved pain during sex, a tighter vaginal canal, and decreased or resolved overactive bladder and/or urinary incontinence!

What are the types of sexual dysfunction?

Sexual dysfunction generally is classified into four categories:

  • Desire disorders —lack of sexual desire or interest in sex

  • Arousal disorders —inability to become physically aroused or excited during sexual activity

  • Orgasm disorders —delay or absence of orgasm (climax)

  • Pain disorders — pain during intercourse

Who is affected by sexual dysfunction?

Sexual dysfunction can affect any age, although it is more common in those over 40 because it is often related to a decline in health associated with aging.

What causes sexual dysfunction?

  • Physical causes — Many physical and/or medical conditions can cause problems with sexual function. These conditions include diabetes, heart and vascular (blood vessel) disease, neurological disorders, hormonal imbalances, chronic diseases such as kidney or liver failure, and alcoholism and drug abuse. In addition, the side effects of some medications, including some antidepressant drugs, can affect sexual function.

  • Psychological causes — These include work-related stress and anxiety, concern about sexual performance, marital or relationship problems, depression, feelings of guilt, concerns about body image, and the effects of a past sexual trauma.

PRF has several advantages over PRP. Mainly:

  • It doesn’t need thrombin and anticoagulants, making it 100% natural

  • It results in better healing due to its slow polymerization process, making it longer lasting

  • It helps in hemostasis, the first stage of healing

  • Growth factors in PRF are 3X the concentration of traditional PRP

  • PRP can be combined with other treatments for even greater improvement

In some patients Dr. DuPont will also incorporate the use of the MonaLisa Touch® in the Revive-V™️ customized treatment plan.  The MonaLisa Touch® is a non-invasive, safe and effective vaginal laser to help restore your vaginal health simply and painlessly.

As you age, the tissue of your vaginal wall thins and loses elasticity. The MonaLisa Touch® reinvigorates this tissue to strengthen and restore its health. She was the first in the area to implement this innovative technology for painful intercourse, genital symptoms, and lichen sclerosis and has performed over a thousand treatments.

The Revive-V™️  procedure is a proprietary method developed by Dr. Mary DuPont using autologous (your own) blood-derived growth factors to rejuvenate the vagina that may help relieve women with urinary incontinence and sexual health issues such as:

  • Decreased libido (sex drive)

  • Stress urinary incontinence

  • Dryness (with resulting painful intercourse) from Menopause or from Breast Cancer Treatment

  • Decreased ability to orgasm

  • Urge urinary incontinence

  • Lichen sclerosis

  • Lichen planus

  • Postpartum fecal incontinence

  • Chronic pain from trauma from childbirth (episiotomy scars)

  • Chronic pain from mesh

  • Chronic interstitial cystitis

How does this compare to the The O-Shot® (Orgasm Shot®)?

The O-Shot® (also known as the Orgasm Shot) is a nonsurgical treatment that uses a patient’s own platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to stimulate the growth of new cells in the vaginal walls and clitoris.  Dr. DuPont utilizes PRF instead of PRP in her proprietary Revive-V™️  procedure.

PRF is used to address many of the same issues as PRP, but PRF releases growth factors for much longer, up to one week or more, versus PRP which releases growth factors for few hours. This means that PRF could have better longer-term benefits. The growth factors are what stimulate the stem cells to improve collagen and elastin in the skin. The platelets in PRF are thought to be more robust than those in PRP, and therefore promotes faster healing.

Revive-P™️

Both men and women can experience sexual dysfunction. It is a relatively common problem, with more than 40 percent of women and 30 percent of men reporting some level of dysfunction. It can occur at any age, but most often sexual dysfunction occurs in people between the ages of 40 and 65.

Erectile dysfunction, commonly referred to as ED, is defined as the inability to attain or maintain an erection needed for sexual performance. It affects over 12 million men in the United States alone. Although erectile dysfunction can affect men of any age once they pass puberty, it is most common in men over 40 years old and its likelihood increases with older age.

Many people are embarrassed to talk about sexual dysfunction, so they hesitate to see a doctor about treatment. If you or your partner is experiencing sexual dysfunction, there are treatments available here at DuPont Aesthetics.

Revive-P™️ addresses male sexual health concerns. Experience stronger, firmer erections, resolution of penile pain with erection, have better overall blood flow to the penis, improved sexual stamina, and Increased penile length and girth!

Revive Face™️

MICRONEEDLING & PRF

Revive-Face™️ allows you to prejuvenate and rejuvenate your face by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin, both vital in the youthful appearance of your face.

MINIMALLY-INVASIVE TREATMENT TO IMPROVE SKIN AGING AND SCARRING

Microneedling is also known as collagen induction therapy (CIT) and percutaneous collagen induction (PCI). A handheld, fine needling device is used to create micro-injuries in the skin for the purpose of skin rejuvenation. The micro-punctures created in the skin trigger the skin’s natural repair processes, stimulating collagen and elastin production.

During this procedure, we apply PRF (platelet rich fibrin) so that when the body heals itself from this controlled “injury” it has the power of concentrated growth factors and stem cells to aid in the regeneration of skin cells. The outcome is more youthful and new skin. This procedure is most commonly used to help improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, stretch marks, pore size and skin texture.

One of the greatest benefits of microneedling is the broad range of applications. Microneedling is a relatively safe and fast method that can be used anywhere on the body to improve texture, wrinkles, reduce scarring, and diminish discoloration. Even commonly “off-limits” regions such as the delicate skin around the eyes can be treated with microneedling.

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR MICRONEEDLING?

Because the epidermis remains intact, the procedure can be repeated safely and is also suited to regions where deep chemical peels are not typically performed, such as around the eyes and mouth, hands, and chest. This makes microneedling a preferred treatment for nearly everyone. Fitzpatrick skin types V-VI should consult with our medical team prior to receiving medical grade microneedling (1.5 mm-3 mm) to avoid triggering a pigment response in the skin.

HOW DOES MICRONEEDLING WORK?

Simply put, microneedling is a method of triggering the repair response of skin. Each puncture of the needle creates a microscopic channel, or empty space. The skin recognizes this channel as tissue loss and begins to produce collagen and elastin to “fill” the channel. Collagen is the main structural protein in skin responsible for sustaining skin integrity, firmness, and elasticity. The result is an improvement in skin texture and firmness, as well as a reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks. Sometimes, our medical team will combine microneedling with topical formulas or PRF Growth Factor Stem-Cell treatment to help boost results further.

When opting for microneedling treatment, it is important to consider the length of the needle being used, as this determines the depth and scope of the treatment. Needle sizes start at 0.1 mm, which only affects the epidermis (the outermost layer of the skin), and can range up to 3.0 mm, thus affecting the deepest layer of the skin (the reticular dermis). Lengths between 0.1 mm and 0.3 mm are used for more superficial, cosmetic purposes such as increasing the penetration of topical serums. Fine lines and wrinkles are addressed with needles ranging from 0.5 mm - 1.5 mm. More invasive procedures use needle lengths from 1.5 mm up to 3 mm to reduce scarring, deep wrinkles, and stretch marks.

WHAT WILL I EXPERIENCE DURING MY MICRONEEDLING TREATMENT?

In-office microneedling treatments can take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour depending upon the area being treated. The length of the needle will affect whether there will be any discomfort or bleeding. Deeper microneedling is generally performed with a numbing cream to maximize patient comfort. Our medical team will then roll the microneedling device over your skin to create tiny punctures. The sensation is often described as feeling “prickly”.

Immediately after treatment, your skin may experience redness and minor swelling. These effects generally subside within a day, but can take up to one week to fully resolve. Since your skin is more sensitive following a procedure, it is highly recommended to avoid sun exposure immediately after. Additionally, we advise you to avoid wearing makeup 24-48 hours following the treatment.

WHEN SHOULD I GET A MICRONEEDLING TREATMENT DONE?

As with most in-office procedures, microneedling will increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun. It is best to schedule microneedling sessions during times when sun exposure will be minimal.

When scheduling your procedure, it is important to remember that while you may see results after one session, it is generally recommended that microneedling be completed in a series of 3-5 treatments every 4-6 weeks, followed by a maintenance program. The frequency of treatments depends upon the desired effect and needle length used. Our medical team will work with you to design a treatment plan specifically for your skin.

WHERE SHOULD I GET A MICRONEEDLING TREATMENT?

While microneedling can be an effective treatment in improving fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, skin texture, and stretch marks, it is not without risks. If not administered under the right care, it can lead to infection. As a result, it is essential that the procedure is performed by a skincare professional with extensive experience, such as the team at DuPont Aesthetics. We will ensure that your treatment is performed in a sterile environment and that you are provided with proper post-procedure instructions. We can also work with you to create a customized advanced home care regimen to help enhance and maintain results.

SHOULD I INCORPORATE AN AT-HOME SKINCARE REGIMEN?

It is recommended to incorporate an at-home skincare regimen after microneedling; always consult with us for individual at-home advice.

IS THIS LIKE THE VAMPIRE FACIAL®?

The Vampire Facelift®, made popular by Kim Kardashian, utilizes PRP in conjunction with microneedling.  Our proprietary approach utilizes the more robust and powerful PRF in conjunction with microneedling.

Microneedling vs. Nano Needling

Microneedling is one of the most popular and effective treatments for skin rejuvenation. With its popularity and the ever-changing search for different skin procedures arose the development of Nano Needling.

Similarities Between Nano and Microneedling

  • A pen-like device is used with a tip that oscillates up and down into the skin to stimulate a skin reaction.

  • Induces cell turnover, allows for serum infusion and provokes the healing process that results in skin transformation.

  • Reduces the appearance of fine lines, improves skin tone and texture, shrinks pore size, reduces pigmentation and improves acne and acne scars.

The Microneedling Difference

  • Uses a needle cartridge with 12 or 36 fine pins that can be adjusted from superficial epidermal depths of 0.25 ( for delicate areas around the eyes, for example) to deeper dermal depths of 3 mm (e.g., acne scars, wrinkles, stretch marks).

  • The micro-injuries caused by the procedure stimulates the body’s natural healing process, increasing collagen and elastin production to promote skin rejuvenation.

  • This procedure can also be effective for pigmentation and hair loss.

  • Topical numbing cream is required.

  • May involve a short down time of 12-48 hours.

  • These treatments are done monthly, usually in a series of 3-6 treatments.

Nano Needling

  • Uses the same type of oscillating motion to treat the skin but the cartridge encompasses 81 microscopic silicone needles (⅓ thickness of hair).

  • The needles separate the cells within the epidermis to allow topical active products (serum infusions) to be pushed into the skin.

  • Benefits include pigmentation reduction, increased cell turnover, skin rejuvenation and an immediate glow.

  • Painless and no downtime

  • Can be done weekly to exfoliate the skin.

Revive-Hair™️

Revive-Hair™️ is an all-natural approach to hair loss! By acquiring your body's own powerful growth factors and stem cells (PRF) we can revive your lovely locks!

WHY IS PRF BETTER THAN PRP FOR TREATING HAIR LOSS?

PRF is the next generation of PRP.

100% natural with no additives, unlike with PRP.

Contains greater concentrations of growth factors, as well as stem cells, while                                                                                                               PRP does not have stem cells.

This higher concentration of growth factors and stem cells in PRF will promote and speed up more hair regrowth and prevent hair loss.  The fibrin in PRF acts as a scaffolding to keep the growth factors and stem cells in the injection area and not allow them to diffuse away where they are not needed. This allows for the release of more growth factors over a longer period of time. Fibrin, stem cells and white blood cells contribute to tissue regeneration are found in PRF but not in PRP.

HOW IS THE HAIR REGROWTH PROCEDURE PERFORMED?

Depending on the size of the area being treated, 2-4 vials of blood are drawn from your arm. It is then centrifuged in special tubes in a unique way to activate the fibrin and concentrate more growth factors, white blood cells, and stem cells while separating it from the other blood components, which are not needed. The PRF is then withdrawn from the vials and injected into the area of hair loss.

HOW MANY HAIR LOSS TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?

Results can vary from person to person. Usually, 4 monthly consecutive treatments are needed, which is then followed by quarterly treatments to maintain the results.  It can take about 6 months to see optimal results of hair growth after completing 4 treatments.. After a year, the treatment frequency can be reduced, based on the specific requirements of the patient.
